TEXT ON PASTEL
The pastel is for me an experimental field that never ceases to amaze me.
It all starts with the support I create. Wood or fabric, the relationship to matter is not the same. The crushing of the pigment with the force of the finger or the sandpaper, the scraping, the sanding, the wetting, the drying, the mixed inks and the added pure pigments are as many acts differently experienced according to one or the other support.
There is no longer a watertight border between reality and abstraction.
This is why I easily switch from one to the other.
The three reasons that lead me to pastel: the power of the pigment, the sensuality of the medium, the direct relationship with the material.
TEXT ON OIL
“At the translucent edge of the glacis whose thinness is depth, materiality and immateriality, real and imaginary meet, are distributed mutant stones, the invisible presence of non-figured men, crystallized towers. It is by capturing from the start the mineral spirit that crosses men and their constructions that the painting of natalina micolini is fidelity to any stone raised."
