Numa Droz was born in 1953,
Lives and works in Lyon.
The spaces where I walk are not only rural and physical, they are also cultural, historical, linked to the history of painting in a tradition of the Western landscape as well as mental.
First there are the real emotions, strolls through real landscapes real ( Bourgogne, Vercors, Pyrénées) at particular times of the day and the seasons (precise lighting..).
A few sketches, photos, then allow me to rediscover these fleeting emotions in the studio and to create reconstructed and frozen images on large square formats whose immobility grabs the viewer and projects him into a meditative and introspective contemplation, symbolizing my spiritual relationship to landscape and my fears that this world will disappear forever.
